The original work in A5 format was first published in 2016.

124 pages containing keys, information on identification, behaviour, habitat and range within the region and conservation status and over 140 colour photographs of every snake species, including sea snakes likely to be encountered within the Sunshine Coast area.

Also included are descriptions and photographs of a number of legless lizards and snake-like skinks, which may be found in the region and are often mistaken for a snake.
